Dutch businesses charge BTW at a standard rate of 21%, with a reduced 9% rate on essentials like food, medicines, and books, and from 1 January 2026 overnight accommodation such as hotels moved from 9% to 21%; the small business scheme (KOR) exempts turnover up to 20,000 euros a year. Payroll runs on loonheffing, filed with the Belastingdienst each pay period, usually monthly, with the annual jaaropgaaf due by 1 February. We configure Odoo to that regime: the Dutch chart of accounts, BTW tax codes, periodic VAT return schedules, and payroll aligned to loonheffing reporting.

E-invoicing runs on the Peppol network under the Dutch Peppol Authority (NPa), whose operation sits with Logius, using the SI-UBL and Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 formats. B2G e-invoicing has been mandatory since 2017 for central government suppliers and was extended to the wider public sector in 2019, while a domestic B2B mandate is not yet in force: the government plans draft legislation for consultation in late 2026, with mandatory domestic B2B e-invoicing targeted for 2030 and the EU ViDA cross-border requirements from 1 July 2030. One Peppol setup in Odoo covers today's public sector obligations and positions a business for the coming B2B rules.
